Dental aesthetics

Dental aesthetics is the branch of dentistry that deals with dental problems related to the aesthetic harmony of the oral cavity, the aim of which is to achieve a perfect smile.

Technological advances in dental materials make today’s cosmetic dental treatments more durable and predictable than in years past, while preserving as much of the natural structure of the teeth as possible.

Cosmetic dental treatments in use today include:

Inlays/Onlays: indirect restorations made of porcelain or composite materials. They are used to restore the structure of teeth affected by carious processes. Inlays and onlays are made in the dental laboratory and then fixed to the tooth surface by the dentist.

Composite fillings: Dental composite is a material with a structure and appearance very similar to those of natural teeth, thus obtaining restorations very similar to dental structures.

Teeth whitening: A beautiful, white and bright smile is undoubtedly a good calling card. Whitening treatments can be performed in the dentist’s office or at the patient’s home. At-home whitening treatment consists of applying whitening gels inside a mouthguard that the patient wears at night for one or two weeks.

In-office whitening gives very fast results, and in one session the color of the teeth can be lightened by up to 16 shades. Our practice uses the ZOOM whitening lamp.

Dental veneers: inlays made of composite materials or porcelain. They are bonded by adhesive techniques to the surface of the teeth to correct their unpleasant appearance.

Veneers are indicated in the following situations:

tooth discoloration

cracks in enamel, small fractures

superficial dental erosions

changes in tooth position

correction of diastema (crookedness)

Dental implants: These are made of titanium and are designed to replace the root of a missing tooth. A major advantage of dental implants is that the teeth neighboring the affected area do not need to be prepared in order to apply a dental bridge and thus close the edentulous space.
